Did you know fruits are one of the best sources of nutrients for a healthy gut microbiome? This is because fruits are high in fiber and if you’ve been following me you know exactly how important getting in enough fiber is when it comes to a healthy gut.
Here are my favorite fruits that I always have in my kitchen that are good for our gut bacteria:
❤️️ Raspberries - one cup of raspberries has about 9 grams of fiber and they’re lower in calories and sugar compared to other fruits!
🍏 Apples - Apples contain a special fiber called pectin that acts as a prebiotic. Pectin feeds your good gut bacteria which is optimal for gut health. One medium apple has about 5 grams of fiber.
💙 Blueberries - one cup of blueberries has around 4 grams of fiber, they’re also rich in anthocyanin, a powerful antioxidant that may help protect skin from sun damage, stress, and pollution!
🍋 Lemons - In my mind, lemons are the perfect choice for helping your body flush out some of the bad crap you don't want hanging around your body. Anytime I wake up bloated or a little puffy I turn to my lemon water.
🍌 Green Bananas - the key here is the banana HAS to be green! Green bananas have resistant starch where yellow bananas don’t. Resistant starch helps feed the good bacteria in your gut!
